SAILING: DOVESTONE Sailing Club returned to their roots for the All-comers ‘B’ One-Day Trophy, with a Mirror dinghy among the prizes for the first time in many years.
Rear Commodore Nathan Poulton won the All-comers ‘B’ Trophy in a Pico, with Lucy Clough and son Andrew (seven) earning second spot in the Mirror.
Elder son James (11) finished fourth in a home-built optimist, behind Gavin Cassidy in a Pico.
Designed in 1962, five years before the club opened, the Mirror revolutionised the sport by bringing pleasure sailing within the means of the working man.
With a fleet growing in size due to its popularity among families, some exciting Mirror-class racing is expected in the future at Dovestone.
Elsewhere, Dovestone’s Flying Fifteens went to the Inland Championship in Kent, but their performance dropped as the event progressed.
