Stamford kept in check by Denton

GOLF: STAMFORD missed out on the chance to pull clear at the top of the Oldham and District Golf League’s ‘A’ Division.

They were held to a 4-4 home draw by biggest rivals Denton and the pair now face a race to the line with four games left.

Dukinfield’s bid to stay in the title race was scuppered by an 8-0 defeat at Ashton.

Brookdale dragged themselves back into the ‘B’ Division race with an 8-0 home win over Saddleworth.

This result saw Brookdale jump to second and Saddleworth slip to third, with Denton three points clear after a maximum against Stamford.

North Manchester ‘A’ are within striking distance of top spot in the ‘C’ Division after beating Crompton and Royton ‘A’ 6-2 at home.
