CRICKET: SPRINGHEAD suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Elton Vale in the Site Electrical North Manchester Cricket League division one.
Replying to 204 for seven, Springhead were bowled out for just 48.
Failsworth Macedonia’s encounter with Blackley was abandoned, but Failsworth seconds beat Greenfield in division three, reaching their goal with one wicket in hand after dismissing their opponents for 121.
Twenty-four hours later, Saddleworth seconds recorded 205 for nine against Rochdale thirds, who finished on 195 for nine.
Austerlands thirds bowled out Walshaw thirds for 92 in division four, before clinching the contest with nine wickets to spare.
Results –
Division one: Elton Vale 204-7, Springhead 48 all out. Division three: Failsworth Macedonia seconds 122-9, Greenfield thirds 121 all out.
Sunday, division two: Rochdale thirds 195-9, Saddleworth thirds 205-9. Division four: Austerlands thirds 94-1, Walshaw 92 all out.
Twenty20 blow
Twenty20 finals day in the Ashton and Oldham Alliance was called off, as Heyside’s ground was unfit.
It is hoped the matches will be played on September 11.
The Inter-League game against the Greater Manchester League was also cancelled due to difficulties in raising a team.
