Fisher’s fine display nets pool victory

Angling:

OLDHAM Central AC’s match on Baden Hall Fisheries Lodge pool saw the top two nets weigh in at more than 30lb apiece.

Paul Fisher won with an all-carp 35lb 15oz.

George Nield (Gilders) was third with 24lb 10oz of mostly carp.


BRIAN Murphy clinched the Saddleworth and District Angling Society (SADAS) open match on Huddersfield Narrow Canal with skimmers and tench adding up to 25lb. Fenton Tennant netted 21lb 8oz.



EIGHT Bells AC’s latest contest on Border Fisheries Meridian Lake saw Dave Phillips post 33lb of small carp and barbell and silvers. Runner-up Ian Walvin (Drake Floats) discovered 25lb 2oz.



JIM Wild’s 15lb 2oz net, comprising of skimmers and carp, was enough to win Cranberry AC’s match on Fleet’s Dam ahead of son Steve, who caught 11lb.




MALC Taylor (Gilders) led the way at Cairo AC’s Denshaw Vale contest courtesy of skimmers and tench making up 4lb 11oz.


Matt Corbiley (Tight Lines) was second with 3lb 12oz.


ORGANISER Darren Webb won the first of two Medlock Bridge AC open matches on Park Lake when skimmers, chub and tench weighed in at 13lb 7oz. Chris Davies followed with 11lb 11oz.



The second contest saw Conrad Taylor head the queue thanks to 23lb 3oz of chub, skimmers and tench. Webb came second with 17lb 9oz.


THREE Rochdale and District events provided plenty of entertainment.

The Pensioners’ Trophy and summer league match on Trowse Lane was won by Billy Brierley’s 9lb 4oz of rudd and roach. Runner-up Ted Dunn posted 6lb 12oz.

The Fenny Trophy contest on the John Player Lodge saw Dave Redfearn lead the way with 12lb 12oz of tench, roach and rudd.

Organiser John Hooper’s 10lb 5oz was enough to clinch second place.

Steve Hodgeon finished first in the shield match at the same venue thanks to a 13lb 13oz bag made up of skimmers, small tench and crucians.

Second-place Barry Briggs contributed 9lb 4oz.



THE Masonic Trout and Salmon Association’s latest fundraiser for disadvantaged children took them to Carp Vale Fishery, where Pete Riley (Elton Tackle) won with 107lb 5oz of carp.

Ian Walvin (Drake Floats) followed with 81lb.

Huddersfield Narrow Canal - Tench and skimmers making up weights with pellet and chopped worm.

Rochdale Canal - Fishing well, especially in the evening.

Chadderton Mill Lodge - Solid, lots of ide and carp to maggot, caster and paste. Members only.
