Howard claims silver in nationals

ATHLETICS:
ADAM Howard had a terrific run in the Aviva English Schools Track and Field Championships in Birmingham, picking up a 1500m silver medal for his efforts.
The Oldham and Royton Harrier ran 4 minutes 13.12 seconds to win his heat in the Junior Boys age group, before being pipped in the final where he produced a time of 4:14.20.
Jack Crabtree also had a good run, coming up with a time of 4:25.13 in the same event.
In the recent British Milers Club meeting at Trafford AC, Christopher Brown had a great run in the 1500m to set a new personal best time of 4:37.79 and win the under-13s category, with Crabtree running well in 4:26.20.
Reece Hendley had a series of good runs in the 100m (12.41s), 200m (25.68s) and 400m (54.04s). Bradley Szakacs finished the 100m in 11.94s and the 200m in 24.12s.
Five Harriers took part in the Royton Trail Race over a tough, hilly course around Tandle Hill which started and finished at the Tandle Hill Tavern.
Owen Flage led the team home with a good run in 14th place (34:37) followed by Dominic Kennerley in 40th (37:29) and Darren Mannings in 60th (39:36).
Derek Atherton had a good run in 74th place (40:46), with Pete Williams in 77th (41:12).
