Gritty Durose lifts Werneth

ALAN Durose made a match-winning 88 as Werneth secured a fine victory over title challengers Littleborough in the Lake Garage CLL on Saturday.
After dismissing Boro for 171, professional Darren Shadford taking four for 47, Werneth had Durose to thank as they reached their target with a single wicket intact. Warron Williams claimed four for 58.
Oldham lost to Clifton, who took first guard and made 157, Mel Whittle taking four for 60. Oldham’s reply was a disappointing 123 all out.
Crompton produced one of their better batting efforts of the season against Unsworth, but were unable to see the job through.
After they posted 208 for nine, skipper Carl Taylor top scoring with 46, rain fell and Unsworth were set a revised target of 133 which they passed for the loss of just one wicket. Professional Calvin Flowers hit 56.
Despite making 201 for seven after taking first guard, Royton succumbed to Monton and Weaste.
Trent Scott scored 48 as the reigning champions overcame Royton’s total with five wickets to spare.
