OLDHAM’S Cameron Joyce retained his undefeated record at the Collyhurst show held in Manchester.
He earned a unanimous decision over Mottram’s John Gilgrist in an evenly- contested bout.
Gilgrist, who was two-and-a-half kgs heavier, came into the contest on the back of a couple of impressive KOs and clearly had the same intention with Joyce.
The momentum shifted back and forth several times during the first two rounds, with both lads trading punches at close range.
Joyce, of Derker-based Oldham Boxing and Personal Development Centre, was staggered in the second but rallied to take the round clearly by reverting back to his slick boxing.
In the final round, Joyce outboxed his extremely strong opponent.
Other fighters from the centre on the bill were Will Cawley and Jack Ellender.
Cawley lost out to Droylsden’s Rhys Taylor on a close points decision.
Ellender faced William Crolla from the Fox Manchester and felt hard done by to lose by points.
He had been relentless in the pursuit of a heavier opponent and stunned him on numerous occasions with strong right hands.
