Heartache for Delph
Date published: 28 July 2010
DELPH suffered an agonising defeat to Elland in the last four of the Huddersfield League’s Twenty20 competition.
Elland, beaten by Delph in the Romida Sykes Cup earlier in the month, completed their 20 overs on a daunting 221 for eight, Greg Finn contributing 78. Warren Jones claimed three for 26.
Irfan Zahoor led the Delph resistance with 89 and Matthew Norvall pitched in with 65.
Stuck on 219 for nine, they went for broke on the last ball and managed one run, only for Stephen Broadbent to be run out attempting a second.
