DELPH continue their push for runners-up spot in the Drakes Huddersfield League premiership when they host mid-table Slaithwaite tomorrow.
Grant Jones’s men are 19 points behind second-placed Shepley, and are only a point ahead of Hoylandswaine.
Delph suffered a sickening one-run defeat against Elland in their midweek Twenty20 Cup
semi-final.
Chasing a target of 222, Delph’s Stephen Broadbent was run out going for a second run which would have levelled the scores.
Irfan Zahoor made 89 and Matthew Norvall 65 for Delph.
BASEMENT boys Micklehurst go to Shelley tomorrow looking to climb off the bottom of the Frank Platt Championship.
Despite spending most of a frustrating campaign there, the Castle Lane outfit are still only three points off nearest rivals Hall Bower.
It will be Micklehurst’s first action for a fortnight. The club missed a fixture due to hosting a charity day in memory of Joseph Etchells, the brave soldier from Mossley who lost his life serving his country in Afghanistan.
Club president Duncan Ross said: “We still have a very good chance of avoiding a bottom-place finish, but we need to win some of our home games.”
