GOLF:

DUKINFIELD retained their Oldham and District Golf League ‘A’ Division title with a splendid 8-0 away win on the final week of the season to guarantee at least a share of the spoils.

Chief rivals Denton slipped out of the running after a 4-4 draw at Brookdale, while Stamford’s 6-2 defeat at Werneth means they would have to win 8-0 away at Oldham in a match still to be rearranged to finish joint top.

Denton are the ‘B’ Division kings, convincingly winning the shoot-out with Brookdale 7-1.

And Blackley ‘A’ fell at the final hurdle in the ‘C’ Division, losing 6-2 at Crompton and Royton ‘A’, a result which enabled North Manchester ‘A’ to nip in for the title success after an 8-0 win over their own ‘B’ team.

Werneth ‘A’ have reached the final of the cup after a hard-fought 4.5-0.5 win over Blackley ‘B’ at Crompton and Royton.

Mark Abbott’s team meet Crompton and Royton ‘A’ in the final.
