Chadderton into next round

NON-LEAGUE FOOTBALL:

Chadderton earned a 2-1 victory at Irlam in the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round,

James Curley gave them the lead after 10 minutes and found the net again six minutes after the interval.

The home side converted a penalty with 15 minutes remaining, but Paul Buckley’s boys held on to progress to the next round.


MOSSLEY suffered a 2-1 defeat to FC United in a pre-season friendly at Seel Park.

The visitors took the lead after five minutes, Ben Deegan tapping in Carlos Roca’s delivery.

Mike Fish and Matty Kay tried to respond for the hosts, but their efforts were off target.

FC United doubled their lead after 54 minutes, courtesy of a Mike Norton header from a corner.

The Lilywhites threw players forward and gained hope in the 83rd minute when Mark Connor found Chris Rowney, who hit the back of the net from the edge of the penalty box.



OLDHAM Boro are not in the FA Cup this season and did not have a game in the Vodkat League division one.

Instead, they played a friendly against Santos and won 5-1.

Jermaine Steel bagged a brace, while Michael Cheetham, Matthew Whittingham and Tom Hughes also got on the scoresheet.
