Aspin is top man at lodge

ANGLING: TWINGATES AC ran two exciting matches on their top lodge, the first of which was clinched by Tony Aspin with a mixed bag weighing in at 13lb 4oz.
Dave Ireland came second with 10lb 8oz, followed by Steve Baines (Tight Lines) with 8lb 10oz.
Dave White won the second contest, which was an OAP match, with 21lb 5oz of roach, carp, tench, chub and skimmers.
Runner-up Tommy Smith mustered 16lb 10oz, ahead of Mike Bamford, who caught 14lb 15oz.
TONY Simcock claimed victory in the first of three Medlock Bridge AC open matches on Park Lane, with 8lb 7oz of skimmers and chub.
Second-placed Darren Webb recorded 8lb 6oz, followed by Bob Harrison’s 6lb 13oz.
Conrad Taylor’s 11lb 8oz of bream and skimmers taken on pellet was enough to win the second meeting.
Martin Taylor finished second courtesy of a 9lb 4oz bag, with Harrison again taking third, this time with 6lb 10oz.
Webb led the way in the final match, thanks to 14lb 6oz of chub, skimmers and tench.
A 13lb 15oz bag earned Pete Cuniffe second position, ahead of Steve Clegg (Saints), who mustered 10lb 2oz.
THE last of the Chadderton Mill AC summer series fished on club water was clinched by Taylor’s 48lb 4oz.
Darren Webb came close with 46lb 4oz, while Paul Hill caught 42lb 4oz.
STEVE Hill won the Dave Slattery memorial series contest with 20lb of ide and carp.

Park Lake – Maggot will catch anything. Pellet for skimmers. Day tickets available.
Huddersfield Narrow Canal – Fish should come back with the warm weather.
Rochdale Canal – Plenty of small perch on chopped worm with odd small roach on red maggot or caster. Bream and tench to 3lb on several lengths including Boarshaw and Castleton with corn and pellet doing the damage.
Chadderton Mill lodge – Amazing place with 50lb needed to frame. Members only.
Diary dates
Tomorrow - Todmorden AS are having an Angling Taster day on Ramsden Wood Fishery, 10am, finishing at 4pm. There is no charge for this event and there is no rod licence, permits, bait or fishing tackle needed as everything will be provided.
Sunday and August 29 – Saddleworth and District Angling Society (SADAS) open matches on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal. Draw 9am at Ward Lane, fishing 10am to 3pm. Tickets £15 all in. To book and for further information contact Dave on 07505 356870.
Wednesday, August 25 and Friday, August 27 on Alexandra Park Lake – Medlcok Bridge AC free fishing for children under-13s. Must be accompanied by parent. All tackle provided free to use on the sessions. Sessions are 1pm to 3pm. Meeting at the Lakeside cafe at 1pm. For further details contact Darren Webb on 07753 414838.
Saturday and August 28 - Chadderton Mill AC Dave Slattery memorial series of four matches on the club water. Draw at midday and the matches fished 1pm to 6pm. Tickets are £15 all in.
There are four qualifiers with the top four on each match going through to the final on September 4.
