TERRY FLANAGAN: can’t wait for the new season
AMATEUR RUGBY LEAGUE: SKIRLAUGH provide the opposition as Saddleworth Rangers embark on a season in the big time tomorrow.
The Hull outfit, seasoned and successful campaigners in the National Conference League premier
division, travel to Greenfield as Rangers bid to get their campaign off to a good start on home soil (2.30pm kick-off).
Keith Brennan’s men claimed the final promotion place in division one last season, finishing in third place.
Since then Lee Charlesworth has retired but there are plenty of talented youngsters in line to fill any gaps as Saddleworth aim to establish themselves in the top flight once again.
“We are all really excited about the new season,” said Saddleworth chairman Terry Flanagan.
“We know it will be tough, but we are full of enthusiasm and we’re very optimistic.
“It is a great weekend for rugby league fans and we would encourage everyone to come down and watch us take to the field in the premier division once again.”
Rangers are back in action once again on Wednesday evening, when they travel to face Bradford Dudley Hill.
Oldham St Anne’s and Waterhead have home friendlies tomorrow against Pilkington Recs (2pm) and Rochdale Mayfield (2.30pm respectively).
