BOWLS: STEVE Galston (Star Inn) won the Failsworth Bowling League’s President’s Cup with a 21-17 final success against Chadderton Cot’s Dave Robinson at North Chadderton Social and Bowling Club.

Galston booked his ticket to the final with a 21-18 defeat of HMSO’s Neil Pollitt, while Robinson progressed with a 23-8 victory over Steve Mellor (North Chadderton).


TONGE will play Springbank in the final of the Manchester Premier Cup after beating reigning champions Hopwood.

Tonge won by 31 chalks at home, Jonathan Copeland leading the way with a 21-9 success, while the away team held Hopwood to a six-chalks win at their venue in Heywood.

The final will be held at Moorside on Friday night (7pm).
