Furious Boro boss hits out at absent players

NON-LEAGUE FOOTBALL: OLDHAM Boro manager Tony Mills has warned some of his players they might have to find new clubs, after being left with a depleted squad for the 4-1 defeat at AFC Liverpool.
Mills was forced to name four under-19 players for the Vodkat North-West Counties League Division One game, which they led in the 11th minute through Jermaine Steele before running out of steam.
Furious Mills said: “On far too many occasions a lot of my players go away to the same festival, event or on holiday together.
“We have a squad of 30 and yet I only had about eight from which to choose for the AFC Liverpool game.
“At this level it just isn’t on for big groups of them to miss matches again and again.”
The manager was full of praise for his youthful line-up.
It will be interesting to see who Mills selects — or can select — for Saturday’s trip to AFC Darwen.
MOSSLEY’S Bank Holiday Monday match against Woodley Sports in the Evo-Stik League Division One North was postponed. It clashed with Woodley’s FA Cup preliminary round replay against Atherton LR.
PAUL Buckley’s Chadderton will be looking to bounce back from their FA Cup preliminary round exit when they host Holker Old Boys in the FA Carlsberg Vase first qualifying round on Saturday.
Chadderton lost 3-1 to New Mills despite Adam Edwards giving them the lead.
