SNOOKER: A BREAK of 31 from Steve Bramwell helped Moss Inn ‘B’ to a resounding 5-1 win over reigning Oldham Amateur Snooker League champions Stanley Road.
And Stanley’s hopes of defending their title suffered another setback as they succumbed 5-1 to Springbank ‘A’. Kenny Joncyk’s break of 37 in the final frame completed the rout.
Martin Kennedy’s break of 48 guided Little Cot ‘A’, the early leaders, to a 5-1 victory at Three C’s.
Chadderton Reform, who are among the pacesetters, and Royton Band have recorded 6-0 victories in among their opening three games.
A break of 30 from Steve Palmer aided North Chadd in a battling 3-3 draw away at CBC, who had got off to a flying start with a 4-2 win over Moss Inn ‘A’ 4-2 thanks to a break of 54 from R Duffy.
When Phil Broadbent accumulated six reds and six blacks on his first scoring visit for St Paul’s, a few people started to wonder if there was something a bit special in the offing. The break ended on 48, but Broadbent had taken the first frame at Deaf ‘A’, who went on to lose 5-1.
