WITH the Twenty20 Cup in the bag and second place virtually secured, Heyside can set their sights on two more pieces of silverware in the Saddleworth and District Cricket League.

With just two games to go, Nick Campbell’s men are leading the way in both the JK Bacon Trophy and the Brennand Aggregate Cup.

The JK Bacon goes to the club with the most Division One and Division Two points combined in the last six matches of the season.

Heyside have accrued 113 points are clear from Moorside (77pts) and Greenfield (76pts).

The race for the Brennand Aggregate Cup, awarded to the club with highest number of points in Divisions One and Two throughout the season, is set for a photo finish.

Heyside are in pole position, but Glodwick are just 10 points adrift in second place, with Bamford Fieldhouse, winners of the league and Tanner Cup, in third and Saddleworth close up in fourth.

Heyside’s first team face a tough game on Sunday with a visit to Uppermill, who are sure to be hurting after losing three games in as many days over the Bank Holiday weekend.

The Saddleworth club’s second string have already bagged the Division Two title, while the firsts are finally coming good after a difficult season.

Steve Howard’s side have won three of their last four league games, and a continuation of their good form may just be enough to clinch the club a trophy.
