ANGLING:

A LATE charge clinched victory for Jeff Isaacs in the last of the Oldham Central AC Championship matches at High Heyes’ number one lake.

Isaacs was among the also-rans until he connected with two carp and two barbel which together weighed in at 32lb 6oz.

Darren Jones was second with tench and skimmers on pellet, followed by Paul Nield’s 12lb 1oz of skimmers and silvers on caster close in.

Nield’s top-three finish sealed the club championship from Jones.

The top two were rewarded for their consistency over the series — the six best results from eight matches counted — as neither claimed a win.

ROD Illing bagged first place in the Twingates AC OAPs match on the top lodge.

He caught 8lb 8oz of roach and skimmers on pole fished maggot to finish ahead of Dave Dickinson, who had small carp and skimmers on pellet and worm on the deck for 6lb 6oz.

LEE Humphries continued his excellent run of form by winning round four of the Dave Slattery Memorial Series on the Chadderton Mill lodge.

The GTI Matchman rod recorded a cracking 45lb 10oz of ide, up in the water with caster on the hook. He later switched to paste down the side.

Dave Whatmore was second-best with 14 carp on chopped worm and caster on the deck at nine metres for 41lb 2oz.

Humphries followed up in the Bank Holiday Monday open at Chadderton Mill lodge with a match-winning 58lb of ide and carp.

He caught ide on caster up in the water at 12 metres, before a 16-metre ine with banded pellet attracted five carp.

Humphries finished off down the edge, where he tempted another five carp.

Runner-up Paul Hill had a 51lb 8oz catch which included ide on maggot and eight carp falling to paste close in.

JIM Wild claimed top honours in the Cranberry AC match on the river side of Fleets Dam.

Switching between the tip and short pole, he caught a level 12lb of carp and skimmers on pellet and meat.

Gideon Orr was second with an 11lb net of skimmers and small carp on caster, maggot and the tip.

THE Bank Holiday Monday Medlock Bridge AC open on the park lake was a patchy affair, with the top two weighing in double-figure nets while others struggled.

Conrad Taylor was the man in form, with his pole and pellet approach attracting tench to 5lb in a 15lb 14oz winning catch.

Harrison was second with long pole and pellet tactics accounting for 11lb 11oz of skimmers, while Steve Hardy was third with a big perch and some silvers for 7lb 14oz.

Steve Clegg, of Saints, went against the grain in Saturday’s Medlock open match on the park lake, where he landed a superb 11lb 11oz of silver fish by using maggot on the hook.

Bob Harrison was second with 6lb 10oz.

Harrison won an earlier Medlock Bridge AC open match on the same venue thanks to a massive 28lb catch which included some big tench and bream on pole and pellet.

Darren Webb was second with a 12lb 8oz all silver fish bag on maggot followed by pellet.

Organiser Webb also tasted victory in a Medlock Bridge AC open contest on the park lake.

He had a 12lb 5oz catch of skimmers, tench and perch on pellet and maggot.
