CRICKET: DELPH enjoyed a fine weekend after claiming two home victories in the Drakes Huddersfield League Premiership.
First victims Kirkburton finished their innings on 260 for four thanks to a superb 143 not out from former Yorkshire player Matthew Wood.
In reply, Pakistan overseas star Bilal Khiljee scored a fine 96 and Irfan Zahoor recorded 64 and as the hosts reached their target with six wickets to spare.
Marsden were the visitors 24 hours later and were always going to struggle after Delph posted 304 for five. Bruce Cruse top-scored with 92.
Aaron Lilley claimed four for 15 and Warren Jones three for 24 as Marsden were bowled out for just 78 when it was their turn to bat.
MICKLEHURST went down to another heavy defeat in the Frank Platt Championship.
Opponents Hall Bower recorded 249 for five before dismissing Micklehurst for 106.
M Blomeley led the resistance with 25, but C Sykes did the damage by taking eight for 46.
WOODHOUSES bounced back from a run of poor form to win two matches in the Lees Brewery Lancashire County League Division One.
Skipper Mike Cassidy made 70 as his side recorded 176 for nine, before visitors Stand were bowled out for 127.
Glossop’s title dreams took a serious dent at Woodhouses 24 hours later.
They were bowled out for 123 thanks in no small part to Luke Swards’ haul of five for 51, while Ashley Prescott did plenty of damage with a return of three for seven.
