NON-LEAGUE FOOTBALL: MOSSLEY boss Shaun Higgins says his side are closer than ever to their first league win as he prepares for tonight’s visit of Radcliffe Borough in the Evo-Stik League Division One North (7.45pm kick-off).
The Lilywhites put their first point on the board last time out when they drew 1-1 with Warrington Town.
Mossley had enough chances to win that match, but the manager believes it is only a matter of time before they get the rub of the green.
Higgins said: “We should have put the Warrington Town game to bed long before they equalised.
“But I would be more worried if we weren’t creating chances. If we keep making them, eventually more goals will come.”
With skipper Graham Kay still missing due to a knee injury, Higgins boosted his back line with the addition of Gianluca Havern, who was released by Stockport County.
Havern made his debut against Warrington Town and impressed his new boss, who said: “Gianluca reads the game well. He gives us a welcome boost at the back.”
CHADDERTON hope to add a centre-back to their ranks before Saturday’s Vodkat North-West Counties League Division One trip to Atherton Collieries.
Boss Paul Buckley is short on numbers and to make matters worse, Keith Melvin misses three matches after his dismissal for violent conduct against Holker Old Boys last time out.
Buckley said: “I am glad we don’t have a midweek game to be honest because it gives me a few days to try to add a defender to the squad.”
OLDHAM Boro will be without suspended duo Sean Roscoe and Nick Murphy for their visit to Cheadle Town on Saturday.
Roscoe is banned for three matches for a dangerous challenge during the 4-3 victory over Abbey Hey, while Murphy received two yellow cards in the same match.
