Avery sinks Werneth

CRICKET; WERNETH ended their season with a nine-run defeat at Rochdale in a game which saw the final appearance of another CLL stalwart.
Rochdale's prolific spin bowler Neil Avery played the last match of his career at the age of 48 and took four for 27 as Rochdale restricted Werneth to 158 for eight in reply to their own 167 for nine.
Werneth professional Darren Shadford had a fine match, hitting 59 and taking four for 40.
CROMPTON were bowled out for 79 at Littleborough, who scored the runs they needed for the loss of a single wicket, while ROYTON (84 for eight) lost by an identical nine-wicket margin at home to Milnrow (85 for one).
CLINTON Perren was man-of-the-match as Littleborough beat Norden in a thrilling John Willie Lees Twenty20 Competition final at Woodhouse Lane on Saturday.
Norden took first guard and made 129 for seven, professional Michael Price hitting 38, but Boro reached their target off the final ball of their 20 overs, Perren scoring 62.
