Silverware regret for Delph skipper

CRICKET: DELPH’S final game of the Drakes Huddersfield League Premiership season succumbed to the rain, with no action possible at Elland.
Grant Jones’ men finished third in the table.
Jones said: “I am happy with our position in the league, it is just a shame that we didn’t win any silverware.
“Lifting a trophy was a priority at the start of the season and we came close, but couldn’t quite manage it. Hopefully we will rectify that next time.”
MICKLEHURST’S miserable season in the Frank Platt Championship was compounded by a heavy defeat to Lepton Highlanders, who clocked up 286 for five.
D Mellor took four for five as Micklehurst were bowled out for just 76. They finished bottom of the table, 16 points off nearest side Hall Bower.
WOODHOUSES finished third in the Lees Brewery Lancashire County League Division One.
They were due to face Flowery Field — the only team capable of pipping them to that position — but the weather intervened and there wasn’t a ball bowled.
