Mossley chase victory

NON-LEAGUE FOOTBALL: MOSSLEY continue their quest for a first Evo-Stik League Division One North victory of the season tonight when they travel to AFC Fylde (7.45pm kick-off).
Shaun Higgins’ men go into the game full of confidence, having stormed to a 4-0 victory at Glossop North End in the FA Cup first qualifying round.
They have been handed a trip to Dunston UTS, of the Northern League First Division, on September 25 in the second qualifying round.
CHADDERTON manager Paul Buckley is still desperate to add a centre-back to his squad.
The Vodkat North-West Counties League Division One outfit don’t play until September 25, when they host Irlam, but that break from action doesn’t work in Buckley’s favour.
He explained: “We have a lot of injuries and Keith Melvin, our only recognised centre-back who isn’t injured, is suspended for another couple of matches.
“Even though this break gives players time to recover, if I am going to bring in a defender I want to see him in a match environment, not just training.”
OLDHAM Boro head to Abbey Hey on Saturday looking to shatter their opponents’ FA Carlsberg Vase dreams.
Boss Tony Mills sees this second qualifying round tie seen as the perfect opportunity to build on the progress made in the 1-1 draw at unbeaten Cheadle Town in the league.
He said: “We played very well at Cheadle. It gave us a bit of momentum.”
