AMATEUR RUGBY LEAGUE: SADDLEWORTH Rangers were special guests of Super League club Huddersfield Giants on the day the club was formally presented with Clubmark Gold accreditation.
More than 60 players and parents enjoyed their day as guests of the Giants as they took on Harlequins at the Galpharm Stadium.
Rangers were the first club in Greater Manchester to achieve the Gold standard, last October.
Gorey inspires Hollinwood
RUGBY: HOLLINWOOD got their season off to a fine start in Division Five, seeing off Queensbury 'A' 30-10.
They fielded 10 new players — including man-of-the-match, former Roughyeds and Rochdale winger Andy Gorey.
The half-time score was 4-0, thanks to two Gorey penalty goals.
After the break, Hollinwood stepped it up. Chris Collins and Peter Davies both crossed, Gareth Benias converting and captain John Byram also scored.
A try for Queensbury was followed by Gorey's try which he also converted and Pete Jackson crashed through the defence. Queensbury got a late consolation.
