Flying start for unbeaten BAE

TABLE TENNIS: BAE ‘A’ have made an impressive start in Division One of the Oldham and District Table Tennis League.
They have recorded 8-2 and 10-0 victories over Werneth ‘A’ and Coldhurst ‘A’ respectively and, in Tony Smith, boast a player who is still unbeaten.
Werneth ‘A’, comprising of Darryl Meredith (three), Stuart Meredith (two) and Jon DePledge (one) bounced back from their opening-day defeat with a 7-3 win over their ‘B’ team.
Maximums from Tristan Swan and Ian Quinn clinched a 7-3 success for MC & MA against Hollinwood ‘B’, while Hollinwood ‘A’ went down 6-4 at BAE ‘B’ for whom Mick Hill posted three victories.
In Division Two, the Hyde YMCA ‘A’ team of Ken Ward, Geoff Ogden and Lionel Royle are looking good for a quick return to the top flight after a convincing 10-0 win at Unison ‘D’.
Werneth ‘C’ overcame Unison ‘A’ 6-4, which featured a maximum from Doug Hill and a double from Karen Hill. Junior James Collins had a fantastic win against the experienced Doreen Schofield.
A maximum from Dave Grundy and a Mark Simpson doubled helped Uppermill ‘A’ to a 7-3 win over Honeywell ‘D’.
