Byram leads way for Hollinwood

RUGBY LEAGUE: HEADY days have arrived for Hollinwood, who continue to start the Pennine League season with a bang.
Relegated last season, the Division Five side have enjoyed two wins out of two played so far, the latter the 48-16 home defeat of Burley Lions.
Man-of-the-match John Byram opened up the visitors with an early try, converted by Andy Gorey and it was soon followed by a pair from Gareth Beinias to which Gorey added the extras.
The shell-shocked visitors managed to get on the scoresheet with an unconverted effort before Matty McCullough stormed through to score, Gorey converting for a 24-4 half-time lead.
Burley kicked off the second half and scored an amazing try within seconds. The restart struck the crossbar, rebounded into a visiting player’s arms and he was able to touch down what ended up being a converted try.
Byram responded for new-look Hollinwood with a converted effort before Peter Davies danced round players to claim another.
Hollinwood ended the game strongly to score twice through Ian Hunt.
