ANGLING: PETE Cuniffe won the final Medlock Bridge AC open match on a patchy Park Lake.
Using his favourite hemp and caster approach, he tempted 13lb 7oz of roach and chub.
Steve Clegg (Saints) netted a 1lb chub first chuck and, at that stage, he must have fancied his chances.
But he finished up having to work hard for second placed with 6lb 2oz of chub and small perch.
The Medlock Bridge AC Saturday open matches will restart in the spring.
Organiser Darren Webb offers his thanks to everyone who have supported the series of matches.
FRANK Mills claimed first place in the latest Twingates OAP match on the club’s top lodge.
Opting for worm and pellet down the edge, he attracted plenty of skimmers, roach and small carp for a 12lb 2oz net.
Dave White, the runner-up, had a mixed bag on maggot and caster at 11 metres.
An earlier Twingates match was won by Dave White, who used maggot and caster baits at 11 metres to tempt 10lb 12oz of skimmers, roach and small carp.
Next-best Rod Illing employed identical tactics for 7lb 8oz of mostly silvers.
Meanwhile, members of Twingates AC are urged to attend a meeting at Crompton Cricket Club on Tuesday (8pm).
On the agenda is stocking policies and latest news updates.
CARP dominated the latest Lees and Hey AS match on Bradshaw number four lodge.
Organiser Keith Adams, opting for the tip and sweetcorn cast just short of the stick ups, returned a massive 69lb 3oz net of carp to 10lb 4oz, although he did include a solitary skimmer.
Paul Mason also had a good day on carp. His tip and pellet approach bagged 51lb 11oz for second place.
The final Lees and Hey AS match of the year, on Fir Tree Fisheries in Leigh, is on Sunday, October 2.
ALAN Dawson (Gilders) enhanced his fine record at Brookside Fisheries by winning the Thursday open match on the Snake Lakes.
Drawn on peg five, he worked pellet, maggot and caster at 12 metres to weigh in 75lb 4oz of ide and small carp.
