Fitton Hill 2, Chaddy End 3

FOOTBALL: TWO late goals in a tremendous fightback were not enough to prevent Fitton Hill from defeat at the hands of Chaddy End at Snipe Clough, in the D and J Builders (North-West) Ltd Jack Abbott Premier Division.

Chaddy, who led 3-0 in a game of missed opportunities for both sides, were given a fright as first Paul Badby and then Gareth Armstead reduced the deficit for Hill, with goals in the last 10 minutes of an absorbing encounter.

Having lost three of their opening four matches, there is little doubt that Hill are finding life tough in this, their first season in the top flight.

Hill manager John Rainford said: "You can't give a team like Chaddy End a three-goal start and expect to get something out of the game.

"While I am disappointed with the result, I am glad that we got the two goals because 3-0 would have been an unfair scoreline.”

Runners-up to Khartoum Northern in the top flight last season, Chaddy look like a side which could go the distance again this time around.

UPPERMILL registered their first victory of the Huddersfield and District League Division One season with a 1-0 home defeat of Berry Brow.

Taylor scored the all-important goal after 11 minutes.

In Division Three, Heyside inflicted Brook Motors’ first defeat of the campaign with a 3-2 away win.

The visitors took the lead after 10 minutes courtesy of a Jake Warburton strike.

A defensive error led to the home side levelling matters 10 minutes later, but Leon Perry restored the lead before Warburton struck again.

Brook Motors pulled one back but Heyside held on.

In Reserves Division One, Uppermill went down to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Berry Brow.

But the third team thumped Scholes 5-1 in Reserves Division Two thanks to four goals from Perte Ward. Rick Scholes also found the net.

Heyside continued their undefeated start to the Reserves Division Two campaign with a 5-1 triumph over Wooldale.

Steve Partington fired in a hat-trick, with Luke Hancock and Karl Warburton completing the scoring.
