NON-LEAGUE FOOTBALL: MOSSLEY go into a potential clash with England legend Paul Gascoigne tomorrow.
Gazza is in talks to become the manager of Garforth Town, who visit Seel Park in the Evo-Stik League Division One North (7.45pm kick-off).
Should he sign on the dotted line in time, the controversial former Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Lazio and Rangers star could be patrolling the dugout area in front of fascinated supporters.
It was going to be a tough test even before the news broke about Gascoigne,” said Mossley boss Shaun Higgins.
"I have a couple of injury concerns but it gives squad players a chance to come in and impress."
A Mike Oates brace sealed a 2-1 win at Dunston UTS in a physical encounter in the FA Cup second qualifying round.
Dunston goalkeeper Andy Clark made a hash of his clearance afer 14 minutes, allowing Oates to tap into an empty net.
Michael Dixon was sent off for two bookable offences just before the interval, first hauling Chris Rowney to the floor before a two-footed tackle on Darryl Weston just 60 seconds later.
Weston was later withdrawn from the action due to the resultant ankle injury.
Mike Fish set up Oates for his brace with a fine delivery after an hour.
Although Andrew Bulford pulled a goal back for Dunston seven minutes later, Mossley held on for the win and £4,000 prize money.
THERE were mixed fortunes for local sides in the Vodkat North-West Counties League Division One.
Chadderton beat Irlam 2-1 courtesy of a James Curley double.
The first arrived after 48 minutes, before he sealed the brace with 14 minutes remaining.
A Ken Palmer penalty in injury time gave the visitors hope but Paul Buckley's men held on.
Oldham Boro went down to a 4-1 defeat at Wigan Robin Park.
Stephen Edwards gave the hosts a half-time lead before Ryan Small, Steve Williams and Chris Williams put the outcome beyond doubt after the break.
Nick Murphy scored a consolation for Tony Mills' side with 13 minutes remaining.
