Saints stumble to lose at Stanningley

Rugby League: OLDHAM St Anne's suffered a 40-20 defeat at Stanningley which leaves the team stuck in mid-table in National Conference League Division One.
Saints coach Mick Cashin admitted his side didn't perform on the day, but he is backing his men to turn it around in time for this weekend's home derby clash with Rochdale Mayfield.
St Anne's had a good start in West Yorkshire, taking the lead through an arcing Garry Rafferty run which produced a try that Kiel Lancashire converted.
Stanningley drew level after heavy pressure deep in Saints territory and Russ Cartmel goaled his on try.
A string of penalties then allowed the home team to pile on the agony, with two tries from Paul Robinson and Ross Barnard added to three Cartmel goals for a 20-6 lead.
On the stroke of half-time, Rafferty juggled the ball before touching down and after the break, Chris Worth and Jordan White set up the position from which David Harris was able to carry three defenders over the line with him, Lancashire's goal reducing the points deficit to six.
Cartmel then landed another penalty and David Cookson had a try ruled out for St Anne's when he was adjudged to have been held up.
Stanningley then reasserted their authority with tries from Dave Jennings, Scott Hargreaves and Jimmy Bargett, Cartmel kicking two more goals. St Anne's had the last say with a try and conversion.
Saddleworth Rangers’ game at Wath Brow in the Premier Division was postponed and Waterhead weren’t in action in Division Two.
