FELL RUNNING: MUD, glorious mud greeted 72 competitors in the annual Ravenstones Brow Fell race, organised by Saddleworth Runners.
The event was blessed with fine weather, but underfoot conditions were sodden after torrential rain 24 hours earlier.
The men’s winner, Kieran Hodgson, finished a comfortable four minutes ahead of the field in a course record time of one hour 16min 53sec.
Becki Penrose was the leading woman home in 1:34:52 — 29th overall — while the first Saddleworth Runners to cross the line were Howard Chambers (1:28:32) for the men and Gaynor Keane (1:39:40) for the women.
