Derby spoils at stake for Saints

RUGBY LEAGUE: TWO points as well as derby spoils are at stake when Oldham St Anne’s play host to Rochdale Mayfield in Division One of the National Conference League tomorrow.
Mick Cashin’s side are on a recovery mission after losing 40-20 to Stanningley last Saturday, and the Saints coach sees the showdown as an ideal chance to bounce back straightaway.
“If you can’t get up for a game like this, then there is something wrong,” said Cashin, who will be without Darren Fletcher (shoulder) and Dominic Igoe (knee) because of injury.
“We weren’t happy with some aspects of our display against Stanningley and the players have worked hard this week to put that right.”
Fletcher, who has been in good form on the wing this season, damaged ligaments in training on Tuesday night.
In the Premier Division, SADDLEWORTH RANGERS will be looking to climb into mid-table with victory over Wigan St Patricks at Greenfield.
Keith Brennan’s outfit were left kicking their heels last weekend — their fixture at Wath Brow was a victim of the wet weather — but there are no problems envisaged for the visit of the basement boys.
WATERHEAD are in action at home to Elland in Division Two.
With one win from their opening four games, Garry Highton’s men will see tomorrow’s contest as a good opportunity to improve their record. Opponents Elland are only a point above Waterhead and have played a game more.
