Mossley eye plum tie

NON-LEAGUE FOOTBALL: MOSSLEY go into tonight’s FA Cup third qualifying round replay against Lincoln Moorlands knowing victory will set up a home tie against Darlington.

Shaun Higgins’ men hope for a successful outcome at Seel Park (7.45pm kick-off) after being held to a 1-1 draw by Moorlands, following a number of missed chances.

Should the Lilywhites progress, Blue Square Bet Premier side Darlington pay a visit on Saturday, October 23, with the winner heading in to the first round proper.

Mossley secretary Harry Hulmes said:

“It is a great draw. If we get through this round, we will be at home against a big side.

“It should generate a lot of interest and we can expect a good turnout.”

The last time Mossley made it to the first round proper was on November 19, 1983 — when their opponents were Darlington. The Quakers won 5-0.

Mossley’s injury list is finally clearing, with Graham Kay (knee) the only man left in the treatment room.

However, Higgins is still without new signing Hafeez Hamzat. The Nigerian (20), snapped up from Real Betis, is still awaiting international clearance.

CHADDERTON go to Rochdale Town tonight in the Vodkat North-West Counties League Division One (7.45pm).
Manager Paul Buckley welcomes back Keith Melvin and Leon Melia from suspension.

OLDHAM Boro go to Irlam (7.45pm) as they look to climb up from 16th place in the table.

Boss Tony Mills has been boosted by the return of Lee Deakin, Tom Hughes, Jamie Rother, Matty Hampson, Andy Smith, Callum O’Sullivan and Nick Murphy.

Other commitments ruled them out of the 3-0 defeat at Daisy Hill last time out, leading Mills to field a number of youth team players.
