Oldham trio pile up the points

NETBALL: SHARP SHOOTING from the Oldham under-16s trio made light work of Denton Villa, running away 74-33 winners.
Coach Pam Hazelton watched as 14-year-old, 6ft 3in shooter Alice Travis, Shannon Westwood and Charlotte Oreston all impressed in a strong team performance.
Defensively Oldham were also on their game. Linda Onouha stood out with some excellent rebounding and Denton managed only six goals in the whole of the second half in a comprehensive result.
THE same two teams met at under-14s level and Oldham again came out on top by a score of 59-33.
After a slow start, coach Jackie Reid produced a team talk that pushed Oldham into another gear and some excellent attacking and shooting by goal attack Holly Joyce proved influential.
The defence of Chloe Shepherd, Issy McGlashen and Eleanor Wright was solid throughout, not letting the Denton Villa shooters settle and regularly turning over the ball.
The win keeps Oldham in a prime qualifying position for the National Championship finals.
