Hollinwood march on

RUGBY: HOLLINWOOD’S impressive start to the Pennine League Division Five season continued with a 31-18 victory at Halifax Irish ‘A’.
Injuries and work commitments forced the visitors to shuffle the pack, but they were soon on the scoresheet when man-of-the-match Andy Gorey split the defence to touch down.
Peter Davies swiftly followed with a try, with Gorey converting.
Davies’ second was sandwiched between two Halifax touch downs, which made it 14-12 to Hollinwood at the interval.
Gorey added extras to Davies’ hat-trick effort shortly after the break and, after the hosts showed some resistance with a converted try, Hollinwood moved in to top gear.
Chris Collins crossed following a clever Gorey kick, prior to Gorey himself dropping a goal and Lee Bayliss finishing a nice team move. Gorey converted.
Gareth Bienias caught the eye for the away side, who also had props Pete Jackson and Rob Penswick to thank for significant contributions.
Hollinwood are fourth in the table, one point behind leaders Queensbury ‘A’.
