Angling: JOHN Shellam is in red-hot form.
The Stalybridge rod made it three wins out of three at Brookside Fisheries with victory on the Snake Lake.
He used the long pole and red maggot approach for a mixed catch of 55lb.
Shellam’s second win, also on Snake Lake, was thanks to a 66lb 8oz net.
Using the long pole and red maggot for a mixed net of silvers and carp, he beat Paul Jones, who had a level 60lb. Rochdale’s Dave Edwards was third with 53lb 4oz.
COLIN Williams led the way in the Tootal AC match on Bone Mill Dam.
The venue was a little patchy, with carp essential to be in the mix.
Williams, who returned an excellent 11lb 10oz net, used caster over a bed of casters at 11 metres for eight carp and some silvers.
Ronnie Bates was second with a 9lb 6oz catch, which included half-a-dozen carp on the tip and pole with red maggot on the hook.
Colin Pearson, in third place, weighed in a 5lb 2oz net of a decent carp and some bits on the pole and maggot. Dave Hughes was fourth on the day with a carp tipping the scales at 2lb 3oz.
IN-FORM Les Aubert recorded yet another win, this time in the Tameside Federation match at a quiet Stonepits Fishery.
Opting for maggot down the edge and at eight and 10 metres, he landed a mainly skimmers and roach net of 3lb 2drams. Morris Hunt, the runner-up, employed casters down the side for a mainly roach-based 2lb 3oz 7drams catch.
Third-placed Eon Wilson used caster tactics long to tempt 1lb 7oz 7drams of roach, while Jeff Dawson was fourth with a 1lb 3oz 5drams net of roach on the long pole and maggot.
