FOOTBALL: ROYTON Town inflicted the first defeat of the season on Manchester League Premier Division leaders Old Alts at Crompton Cricket Club, with a fine 4-0 victory.
Fraser Hatton put the hosts in front after 11 minutes, volleying a Michael Moss delivery into the net.
Three minutes later Wayne Dean doubled the lead after impressive link-up play with Moss.
It was Moss who made it 3-0 halfway through a comfortable second period, latching on to a rebound from Jason Titterington’s shot.
And Moss got his second of the game two minutes before the final whistle after good work from Titterington.
Hollinwood’s miserable run of form continues in the form of a 9-1 defeat at Leigh Athletic.
Basement boys Hollinwood are yet to pick up a point this term, having lost 10 games in a row.
They are three points adrift of nearest side Atherton Town.
In a thrilling derby, Avro defeated Springhead 5-3.
