FOOTBALL: RIFLE Range Royal Blues pulled off the shock of the second round in the D&J Builders (North-West) Ltd Oldham Sunday League President’s Trophy, by beating FC Broadgate 1-0.
David Giblin Division One outfit Blues, who had D Knagg to thank for scoring the winner, held on to knock out their Jack Abbott Premier Division opponents.
Division Two side Royal Oak forced a 4-4 draw with Weavers Arms of Division One, before losing on penalties.
A Murdoch bagged a brace for Khartoum Northern ‘A’ in their 5-3 triumph over Crompton and Royton.
Royton FC defeated Northside 5-3.
D Hendry, W Buckley, J Bond and W Taylor were the marksmen for Limeside ‘A’ in their 4-1 defeat of Parkside.
J Curley posted a hat-trick in Rifle Range Reds’ 4-1 win over Friendship Society.
R Shaughnessy and W Clarke got two apiece in Lark Inn’s 5-0 defeat of Failsworth Dynamos.
Fitton Hill Rangers romped to an 8-1 victory at Famous King George, with P Badby and D Hitchen both recording braces.
Kenyon Arms beat Crompton Victoria 3-1.
Coppice United ‘A’ earned a 3-0 win at White Hart, while Springhead Libs went down to a 3-1 defeat at home to Failsworth Athletic.
J Munson pounced twice for FC Carsons as they beat Oddies Athletic 5-2.
Highfield United lost 2-1 to Legends Bar.
R Hobin bagged a treble in Red Star’s 5-2 victory over Limeside Athletic ‘B’.
