TABLE TENNIS:

ROSEHILL experienced mixed fortunes in Division One of the Oldham and District Table Tennis League.

They recorded an excellent 8-2 win over a young Hollinwood ‘B’ team, thanks to a treble for the in-form Dave Pegg and two wins each for Richard Sarre and Phil Ashworth. Nathan Buckley and Mohammed Sajid had five-set triumphs over Sarre and Ashworth respectively.

But Rosehill were unable to build on the win as they succumbed 7-3 at home to Saddleworth, in which Sarre was unfortunate to lose two five-set encounters to Ian McLean and Duncan Hadfield.

It was derby day in Division Two. Werneth ‘C’ overcame their ‘D’ team 7-3, despite Mike Pellowe’s superb wins over Karen Hill and Dougie Hill. Paul Wilkinson, with a hat-trick, starred for the ‘C’ side.

Honeywell ‘C’ beat their ‘D’ team by an 8-2 scoreline, but had to go to a deciding fifth set for three of their points. Brian Higgins registered a treble for the ‘C’ team.
