AMATEUR FOOTBALL:

HOLLINWOOD finally earned their first victory of the season in the Bridgewater Office Supplies Manchester League Premier Division with a 3-2 triumph over East Manchester.
After 10 straight defeats, Fred Hardicre’s men at last put points on the board.

Hardicre said: “We feel like we are up and

running now, especially as I am getting a proper team together. We can kick on from here.

“Karl Stone was first team goalkeeper at Chaddertonians. He has joined us.

“Danny Wilson, who can play in defence or midfield, and Junior Noiceley, who can go anywhere, have come on loan from Ashton United.

“I think we are more than capable of staying up. There are 19 league games remaining.”

Noiceley grabbed a brace for Hollinwood and Lee Wolfenden was also on target.

Elsewhere, Avro continued their impressive start to the campaign courtesy of a 1-0 defeat of Manchester Gregorians.

There was no such joy for Springhead though, as they lost 3-0 at Prestwich Heys.

In the LFA Amateur Shield, Royton Town beat Euxton Villa on penalties. The match finished 1-1 after extra time.


Champions are held to a draw

FC BROADGATE earned a respectable 1-1 draw with reigning champions Khartoum Northern ‘A’ in the D & J Builders (North-West) Ltd Oldham Sunday League.

N Milner was on target for Broadgate, while R Radcliffe was Khartoum’s marskman, in the Jack Abbott Premier Division clash.

Leaders Royton FC made it six wins out of seven with an emphatic 9-2 victory over Oddies Athletic.

W Dean and R Quinlan both recorded hat-tricks, with a C Ginnever brace and R Gibson’s goal completing the rout. C Taylor and C Turner replied for Oddies.

S Barrow notched a treble for Coppice United ‘A’ in their 6-1 demolition of FC Carsons. M Ali, N Butt and S Ali also found the net.

P Badby’s hat-trick put Fitton Hill Rangers on their way to a 4-1 win over Red Star. He was joined on the scoresheet by N Dunkerley, while Red Star’s marksman was C Beamish.

C Ryan pounced twice and D Fahey also found the target for High Crompton in their 3-3 draw with Rifle Range Reds, for whom R Fagan, N Jackson and A Young scored.
