Khartoum serve up a fright

OLDHAM SUNDAY LEAGUE
KHARTOUM Northern ‘B’ gave High Crompton a fright in the D & J Builders (North-West) Ltd Oldham Sunday League President’s Trophy, before losing the tie 4-3.

High Crompton, who sit fifth in the Jack Abbott Premier Division, might not have expected such a rough ride against Division Three outfit Khartoum, who are one from bottom of the table.

A D Faye brace and further strikes from R Pugh and N Wiley saw High Crompton progress.

In Division Three, the clash between Kenyon FC and White Hart, which had no official referee, was abandoned after 75 minutes after a series of heavy tackles. The league committee is to discuss the matter with both sides.

In the Premier Division, leaders FC Royton suffered a surprise 4-3 defeat to Red Star.

R Hobin pounced twice for Red Star, with A Young and J Jacobs also scoring.

Khartoum Northern ‘A’ roared to a 4-1 win at Failsworth Athletic.

M Dickinson, K Radcliffe, R Radcliffe and I Mills found the net.

Chaddy End won 4-3 at Coppice United ‘A’ .

FC Carsons lost 3-2 to FC Broadgate, while Rifle Range Reds beat Oddies Athletic 2-1.
