HARD-WORKING AFC Oldham were rewarded with a 3-1 win at Burnage Metro in Division One of the Lancashire and Cheshire League.
John Leach put the local outfit in front from a Neil Hardman corner, only for Burnage to equalise from a set-piece.
However, a left-foot strike from Grant Marshall re-established Oldham’s lead, before Wayne Howarth’s 30-yard strike sealed victory.
Santos, who had two first-half goals disallowed for offside, slipped to fourth place in Division Two after a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Mellor reserves.
The deadlock was broken with 10 minutes left after the Santos defence went AWOL.
And Oldham Victoria went down 2-1 at home to Rochdalians reserves.
In Division ‘C’, Santos reserves recovered from going a goal down to defeat their Milton counterparts 2-1.
Sarsfield equalised with a looping effort, before Marsh clinched victory with a close-range header after his shot had smacked against the woodwork.
Meanwhile, Craig Finnigan will miss the rest of the season after breaking his leg in two places in AFC Oldham’s second-team fixture against Old Stretfordians in Division ‘D’. The game was abandoned after 15 minutes.
Lee Rostron scored two excellent goals for the club’s thirds in a fine 3-1 defeat of Heaton Mersey reserves in Division ‘F’.
Captain Paul Tibbs got the other goal.
