AN overnight frost had a negative impact on the Todmorden AS open on the Castleton length of the Rochdale Canal.
The winner, in a patchy match, was Steve Ashworth, with bread punch on the long pole tempting 12lb 11oz of good quality roach. His best fish was around the eight-ounce mark.
Lenny Fosdyke, the runner-up, opted for bread punch at nine metres for 9lb 7oz 8drams of skimmers and roach, while Derek Greenwood was third with 4lb 7oz 8drams. Dave Bradley with 4lb 1oz of silvers.
Todmorden AS have organised two more open matches on the Rochdale Canal, on Sunday, November 21, at Smithybridge and Sunday, December 5, at Castleton.

Todmorden As are holding their popular Christmas match on Sunday, December 12.
The draw is up to 9am at Todmorden Social Club, Halifax Road. Entry is £12 all in for seniors and £6 for juniors.
All competitors receive a prize at the presentation as well as pie and chips supper.

Meanwhile, Todmorden are freezing subscription for next year, which is a welcome gesture to members old and new.
Their final trophy match takes place at Croft Fishery on Sunday. Draw up to 7.45am. Fishing 8.30am to 1.30pm.

OLDHAM Fly Fishing Club are staging a fly-tying demonstration by Gwilym Hughes at Springhead Liberal Club on Monday (7.45pm).

The chicken run at Stakehill is a banker for bites, with plenty of roach, perch and the odd skimmer falling to pinkie, maggot and caster tactics.
