Squires, Bailey clinch victory

GOLF:
PROLIFIC winner Alan Squires partnered Dave Bailey to clinch a four-ball betterball Stableford competition at Oldham.
The pair registered 47 points to finish clear of Geoff Allen and Barry Robinson (45pts), who relegated Barry Lewis and SP Taylor to third place on a card play-off.
Terry Kelly had something to celebrate on the day. The long-standing Oldham member recorded a hole-in-one on the par three, 16th.
Squires, who this time teamed up with Dave Bruce, had to settle for second-best in a four-ball betterball medal event 24 hours later.
Victory went to Mark Ruff and Mark Furnival (57), with Squires and Bruce (58) denying Steve Mills and Kelly for runners-up spot on a card play-off.
