SNOOKER:

MOSS Inn ‘A’ maintained their bid for top spot in the Oldham Amateur Snooker League with a gutsy 3-3 draw at home to Springbank ‘A’.

Trailing 2-0, Mick Webb steadied the Moss ship with a break of 32 and a 37 clearance to take the third frame.

Inspired by Webb’s example, his team-mates then took the last two frames to salvage a share of the spoils after Springbank had claimed the aggregate.

Deaf ‘B’ and CBC were engaged in a topsy-turvy clash.

N Inman won the first frame for CBC with the help of a break of 30. Despite R Duffy’s break of 33, R Gilder replied for Deaf ‘B’, who then went in front thanks to MJ Smith’s effort in frame three. He knocked in a 53 break in the process.

P Ashworth levelled for CBC with victory over D Smith, but a break of 34 from D Reece clinched the final frame and the aggregate point for Deaf ‘B’ in a 4-2 success.

Dobcross stay clear of the pack

IT is a case of as you were in the Saddleworth Snooker League.

Dobcross, thanks to a fine display from R Hulston, remained three points clear at the top of the table after a 3-2 defeat of Yorkshire Ward 2.

Nearest rivals Mossley, for whom D Bramall and N Bennison recorded a century in points, swept aside Austerlands 1 4-1.
