Double joy for Oldham

The Oldham Aquatics members took their place on the podium after impressing in freestyle events in Watford. Francesca (14), of Hulme Grammar, swam in the 100 metres, while Olivia (12) was part of Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar’s 4x50m relay team.
SWIMMING:
OLDHAM Amateur Swimming Club clinched the Central Lancashire Junior Jubilee for the first time in 24 years.
And they swiftly followed it up with the Central Lancashire Intermediate League title.
The jubilee victory saw Oldham end on 117 points in the knockout final, followed by Royton on 110, Radcliffe with 101, and Howe Bridge Aces, who mustered 89.
Nicola Farrell was at the double for Oldham in the under-13s category, winning in backstroke and freestyle, while team-mate Olivia Askew earned the runners-up spot in butterfly.
The cannon relay team comprised of one swimmer from each age group.
Girls’ team of Olivia Green, Amy Cunningham, Olivia and Nicola stormed to victory, as did boys of Dylan Arzoni, Daniel Fearnley, Kyle Clegg and Sammy Marsden.
THE club’s Central Lancashire League title success came courtesy of a 144-133 triumph at the expense of Swinton, at Oldham Sports Centre.
Jessica Fullalove provided one of the highlights of the event, claiming a fine hat-trick of victories in the butterfly, backstroke and freestyle.
In the cannon freestyle relays, Amy Cunningham, Daniel Fearnley, Olivia Askew, Kyle Clegg, Jessica Fullalove and Ian Martin teamed up to cement the win.
Oldham remained unbeaten in the league throughout a memorable campaign.
