NETBALL:
OLDHAM Netball Club’s under-16s side recorded an impressive 70-30 victory over Trafford in the Greater Manchester County League.
Trailing 3-0 early on, the local outfit, including Becky Greenwood, turned the game on its head to win the first quarter 12-11.
A couple of changes saw Oldham raise their game and blitz Trafford by 16 goals to lead 34-17 at the mid-way stage. They continued to dominate, taking the third and fourth quarters by comfortable margins.
OLDHAM under-14s returned to winning ways with a 29-26 defeat of Trafford.
The first quarter was a cagey affair, with Oldham’s defence of Chloe Shepherd, Izzie McGlashen and Ellie Wright turning the ball over at regular intervals.
All-square at the half-way point, Oldham coach Mike Greenwood rang the changes, and the response was immediate.
Oldham stepped up a gear and their superior fitness started to show.
With player of the match Olivia Harris, in the centre, feeding the attack and breaking up Trafford’s forays, Oldham were able to build a decisive three-point advantage.
