Titans too strong for title rivals

BASKETBALL: OLDHAM Titans under-18s emerged victorious in a thrilling tussle in the North-West Conference.
In a top-of-the-table clash, Titans stretched their unbeaten record to five games with a superb 98-89 win over title rivals Liverpool City Tigers.
But the teenagers were out of luck in the Sureshot National Cup.
Up against Cheshire Jets, Titans succumbed 115-44 at the Stanney Oaks Leisure Centre.
Jets play in the Premier North Division and were too experienced for a Titans side, who were mostly made up of 16 and 17 year olds.
It also did not help that some of the younger members of the team had already played a game earlier in the day.
In the northern section of the National Basketball League, Titans under-15s registered their sixth win out of seven with a comfortable 78-65 defeat of Newcastle Eagles.
And the under-16s maintained their unbeaten record thanks to a 92-45 success over Bury Blue Devils in the North-West Conference.
