CRICKET: LAKE Garage CLL delegates will tonight decide whether to split the league into two divisions, with promotion and relegation at the end of each season.
Should Norden’s proposal be accepted, the CLL will have two divisions of eight teams, named the Premier League and 1st XI Championship, at the start of the 2012 campaign.
The teams involved in the respective divisions will be decided by finishing positions in 2011.
Tonight’s annual meeting at Middleton CC will hear submissions from Norden representatives who will argue that the league needs to do something to produce more competitive cricket.
The Woodhouse Lane club tried, unsuccessfully, to introduce a similar proposal at last year’s meeting.
ROYTON, who recently announced the appointment of former Werneth all-rounder Alan Durose as their captain for next season, have captured another leading amateur player from their CLL neighbours.
Joe Taylor, currently playing amateur cricket in Tasmania, has followed Durose to the Paddock.
The 19-year-old all-rounder was a leading light in the Werneth side which finished last season as the top local club in the CLL.
