Hardicre hails cup display

FOOTBALL: FRED Hardicre’s Hollinwood outfit earned a 5-2 victory over Beechfield United in the Manchester County Football Association Trophy.

Nathan Eastmond helped himself to a hat-trick, and was joined on the scoresheet by Gary Chadderton and Neil Rennie.

Avro also progressed, courtesy of a 3-2 win at East Manchester.

On the mark were James Grimshaw, Lee O’Brien and John Worsell.

In the Premier League, Springhead went down to a 2-1 defeat at Manchester Gregorians.

Mark Hopwood notched the visitors’ consolation goal. Springhead occupy 12th position in the table, with 15 points to their name.
